eno energy and Reuther STC deepen their business partnership

23.01.2020
  • eno orders four tubular steel towers
  • Reuther starts successfully into the new year after insolvency

eno energy has commissioned Fürstenwalder Reuther STC GmbH to supply tubular steel towers for four eno126 wind turbines. The four WTGs will be erected in Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2020, each with a hub height of 137m. Reuther STC and eno have a long-standing business partnership. Since 2012, eno energy has relied on tubular steel towers from the supplier in Brandenburg. After Reuther had to record payment defaults of around seven million euros in 2019 in a turbulent market environment due to the insolvency of one of its largest wind tower customers and as a result had to file for insolvency, the Fürstenwalde-based company successfully extricated itself from the difficult situation under its own steam and under its own management.

Commenting on the eno order, Reuther STC’s Managing Director Finn Melgaard explains: “We are delighted that eno has commissioned us to manufacture steel segments, the first company in the wind energy sector to do so following its self-administered insolvency. We have found eno to be a reliable partner, even during the difficult time for us in recent months. eno has been instrumental in enabling us to continue our production and thus secure 165 jobs in the region. Our long-standing relationship based on partnership and characterised by entrepreneurial spirit as well as our mutual, medium-sized flexibility have proven valuable.”

Stefan Bockholt, Managing Director of eno energy, adds: “The wind industry in Germany has had challenging years. Both eno and Reuther are emerging from this situation in a strong position. We want to continue our successful cooperation in the future, because we very much appreciate Reuther’s high quality standards and their willingness to break new ground in technology. Thanks to the physical proximity and the resulting close cooperation between our teams in construction and project realisation, we have jointly developed technological innovations in recent years that contribute to the increased economic efficiency of WTGs.”

The traditional company Reuther, whose origins lie in Pintsch AG, founded in 1872 by Julius Pintsch, has earned a good reputation as a steel construction specialist in various industries. In addition to towers, Reuther also supplies large-volume tanks, components for the mining industry, steel products for winches in the shipping industry and specialises in the production of hydrogen tanks.
